Kathleen Woods Masalski, M.Ed.
Class of 1957

Kathleen Woods Masalski, M.Ed. graduated from Olean High in 1957 and later earned her Bachelor of Arts in History from Miami (Ohio) University, and Masters in Education from the University of Massachusetts.

In 1990, Kathleen joined the Five College Center for East Asian Studies at Smith (Mass.) College, where she now serves as director. Her responsibilities include teaching at UMass, organizing regional seminars, and directing study-tours in Asia for teachers in the Northeast.

Throughout her career, Kathleen has received many honors, such as the National Social Studies Teacher Award and a commendation from the Foreign Ministry of Japan. She regularly speaks at professional conferences and authors articles and curriculum units for publication. Kathleen serves on local, regional and national boards that promote learning and teaching about Asia.
